Dismiss the Winter Blahs!

Ahh - Wintertime!

Okay, so it is drab and dull outside - it is Winter after all.

Find ways to brighten the days till Spring starts to work it's way in.  Here are some suggestions we thought might help to make the blahs go away:

1.  Bake - it smells great in the house and surely will bring a smile to the faces of those around you.  Bring some of your wonderful baked goods to your neighbor on these stainless steel servers.
2.  Drag out the old pile of photos and organize them.  Reminisce a little.  You could even pull aside a few faves and make a photo journal for someone special.  Go to the local arts/crafts store, buy some pretty papers and create!
3.  Start some Spring bulbs in the house, or cut some branches and force some flowers.  Put "spring bulbs for forcing" in your search engine and do some research - you'll find a ton of suppliers.  There's a great "fact sheet for forcing" from the University of Rhode Island Landscape Horticulture Program that will get you started with basic info.
4.  Order some seed catalogs and begin the planning of your kitchen garden.  Better yet, start some seeds - there's nothing like something green growing in the house to lift your spirits - and we don't mean mold!  Our blog will be starting it's Kitchen Garden posts soon - sign up to follow our blog so you don't miss a single segment. Coming soon - putting together a garden journal from a looseleaf binder.
5.  Clean / reorganize the pantry or a closet or two - you won't want to do it when Spring comes, so do it now!  Think of some better ways to organize the contents or jazz it up a little.  You'll love the results!

That'll help to get you started.  Do you have some other activities to share for chasing away the Winter blahs?  Send them along.  We'd love to hear from you.
