Fall along the Shoreline

2008
11.07

The crowds are gone.  There is a sense of tranquility.  I feel a gentle, cool breeze on my face, but the water is calm.  Leaves from the nearby trees saunter nonchalantly to the ground;  their vibrancy diminished.  The route along the shoreline near my home has become a familiar one to me, and offers me serenity from the often hectic life I lead.

My mind wanders, sorting out the details of the day ahead.  I like this time in my routine – it’s “me” time.  I embrace the nuances of nature around me – the “busyness” of the birds as they go about their daily rituals (as will I!), the changes in the landscape that are inherent with the season, the gulls swooping down in search of food.

My walk over,  I pass by a building on the way to my car.  I notice slight movement , and stop to observe – a praying mantis.  Such a graceful, yet odd-looking creature…

Let the day begin!
